Ballyduff Boxing Club is an inclusive space for people of all ages, interested in keeping active, getting fit and making friends all while learning the skills and discpline of boxing
Located in Ballyduff, County Kerry.
Established in 1988, Ballyduff Amateur Boxing Club has long been part of the heart and spirit of our community. From humble beginnings in the village community centre to our current location beside the Ballyduff GAA pitch, the club continues to provide a welcoming, supportive, and disciplined environment for people of all ages and abilities.
Under the guidance of Head Coach and President Frankie O’Brien, alongside a dedicated team of coaches, mentors, and volunteers, the club is committed to helping members improve their fitness, confidence, and overall well-being through boxing and physical activity.

Classes Available
Young Guns – Beginners Programme
Our beginner group, known as “Young Guns,” introduces young members to boxing fundamentals in a fun and structured setting. Sessions focus on:

Fitness and conditioning

Boxing basics and technique (non-contact)

Pad work and drills

Co-ordination and confidence building
Training sessions are typically 70% fitness and 30% boxing technique.

We welcome boys and girls aged 8 years and older. There is no “perfect age” to start boxing, and all abilities are encouraged to participate.
Ladies Boxercise (18+)
A high-intensity, non-contact fitness class using boxing techniques to improve strength, fitness, and endurance.
Over 18 only. These classes are non-contact; you train as a boxer but do not box in the ring.
Sessions may include:

Men’s Boxercise (18+)
A high-intensity, non-contact class focused on fitness, conditioning, and strength building through boxing-based training, over 18 only. These classes are non-contact; you train as a boxer but do not box in the ring.

Boxfit
A low-impact class, non-contact, incorporating chair exercises and designed especially for older adults wishing to improve:

Development Squad Class
These classes are for those who wish to progress competitively. The club provides opportunities to train, spar, and compete throughout Ireland. Coaches work closely with members who show dedication, commitment, and interest in advancing further in the sport. Members in this class will be in the ring; this is a contact class.

Boxing for Fitness or Competition
At Ballyduff Amateur Boxing Club, members are never pressured into competitive boxing. Many people attend purely to improve fitness, stay active, and enjoy the social aspect of training. Whether your goal is competition or simply becoming “fighting fit,” you will be equally welcome.
For those who wish to progress competitively, the club provides opportunities to train, spar, and compete throughout Ireland. Coaches work closely with members who show dedication, commitment, and interest in advancing further in the sport.
What You Need to Get Started
For beginners, the only equipment required is:
- Gum shield
- Hand wraps
- Comfortable sports clothing
- Suitable sports footwear
- Bottle of water
Hand wraps and gum shields are also available to purchase through the club.
